Why convert

Why Convert Apple Maps Links?

Apple Maps links work best on Apple devices. When you share a maps.apple.com link with someone using Android or Windows, they get a limited web view without turn-by-turn directions, Street View, or offline access. Converting to a Google Maps link gives them the full experience.

Sharing with Android Users

Send locations to friends and family who use Android phones and Google Maps as their default.

Embedding in Websites

Google Maps embeds are more widely supported and familiar to most web users.

Cross-Platform Teams

Share meeting locations, office addresses, or event venues with mixed Apple/Android teams.

How it works

How to Convert in 3 Steps

Step 1: Copy the Apple Maps Link

Open Apple Maps on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Find the location you want to share, then:

  1. Tap the location pin or search result
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow)
  3. Select Copy Link

The link will look something like this:

Apple Maps Link
https://maps.apple.com/?ll=40.748817,-73.985428&q=Empire+State+Building

Step 2: Extract the Coordinates

Look for the ll= parameter in the URL. It contains the latitude and longitude separated by a comma:

The ll= Parameter
ll=40.748817,-73.985428

40.748817 = latitude, -73.985428 = longitude

If your link uses a short URL format (like maps.apple.com/?address=...), open it in Apple Maps first, then re-share to get a link with coordinates.

Step 3: Build the Google Maps URL

Take the coordinates and plug them into a Google Maps URL:

Apple Maps
https://maps.apple.com/?ll=40.748817,-73.985428
↓
Google Maps
https://www.google.com/maps?q=40.748817,-73.985428

Open the Google Maps link in any browser or share it directly. It works on Android, iOS, Windows, and any device with a web browser.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert an Apple Maps link to Google Maps?
Paste it into the box at the top of this page and tap Open in Google Maps. To do it by hand, copy the numbers after ll= in the Apple Maps link and put them into a Google Maps URL: https://www.google.com/maps?q=LAT,LNG.
Can Android users open Apple Maps links?
Apple Maps links do open in a web browser on Android, but the experience is limited — no turn-by-turn directions, no Street View, no offline maps. Converting to a Google Maps link gives Android users the full native experience.
What if my Apple Maps link doesn't have coordinates?
Some Apple Maps links use place IDs or addresses instead of coordinates. Open the link in Apple Maps first, then tap Share again to get a fresh link with the ll= parameter. Alternatively, search for the place name directly on Google Maps.
Is there a tool that does this automatically?
Yes — the box at the top of this page. It works with place links, dropped pins, search results and maps.apple short links. For a whole Guide, use the Guide Decoder; for the opposite direction, Google Maps to Apple Maps, use Quick Convert.
What about Apple Maps Guide links?
Apple Maps Guides use a different encoded URL format. Use our Guide Decoder to extract all places from a Guide URL, then export them to Google Maps.
