Short answer

In Apple Maps, open the place and tap Share → Copy Link; you get a maps.apple.com link. You can also write one: https://maps.apple.com/?q=Brandenburg+Gate searches by name, ?ll=52.5163,13.3777&q=Label drops a labelled pin, ?daddr=… starts directions. Have a Google Maps link? Paste it in the box below to get the Apple Maps version.

1. Share from Apple Maps

  1. Search for the place, or drop a pin by pressing and holding on the map.
  2. Tap the place card, then Share.
  3. Choose Copy Link (or send it straight to Messages, Mail or WhatsApp).

The link opens in Apple Maps on any Apple device and in Apple Maps on the web elsewhere. To share with Android users, see links that work for everyone.

2. Write one by hand

These parameters are documented by Apple and work on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

LinkWhat it opens
https://maps.apple.com/?q=Brandenburg+GateSearch for a name or an address
https://maps.apple.com/?ll=52.5163,13.3777Centre the map there (no pin)
https://maps.apple.com/?ll=52.5163,13.3777&q=Brandenburg+GateA pin at those coordinates, labelled — with ll present, q is a label, not a search
https://maps.apple.com/?address=Pariser+Platz,+BerlinAn address
https://maps.apple.com/?daddr=Alexanderplatz,+BerlinDirections to a destination from the current location
https://maps.apple.com/?saddr=A&daddr=B&dirflg=wDirections from A to B, walking (d driving, r transit)
…&z=15Zoom level (added to any of the above)

Spaces become + or %20. Coordinates are latitude first, then longitude. Many more forms, including the maps:// scheme, are in the Apple Maps URL scheme guide.

3. Convert a Google Maps link

Paste a Google Maps place, pin or short link below and you get an Apple Maps link to the same place. For a whole list, the file converter turns a Takeout export into one Apple Maps Guide link.

Convert a link now

Paste any Google Maps link — place, pin, short link or directions.

Whole list? Use the file converter.

Link to a place by name, or by coordinates?

Name (q=) is readable and lets Apple Maps show the place's details, but a common name can match the wrong place. Coordinates (ll=) are exact, but on their own they only centre the map; add q= to drop a labelled pin there. For a business, share from the app — the link carries Apple's place identifier.

A link to many places at once

Apple Maps Guides are the only way to put a list of places in one link, and they are built from the app (or by the converter on this site). A hand-written URL can hold one place or one route.

FAQ

How do I get a link to a place in Apple Maps?

Open the place in Apple Maps, tap Share, then Copy Link. The link starts with maps.apple.com and opens in Apple Maps on Apple devices or in the browser elsewhere.

Can I create an Apple Maps link from a Google Maps link?

Yes. Paste the Google Maps link into GoToAppleMaps and you get an Apple Maps link to the same place; the converter matches the place rather than copying coordinates blindly.

What is the Apple Maps link format?

Links use maps.apple.com with parameters such as q for a search, ll for coordinates, address for an address and daddr for a destination. Links shared from the app may instead carry a place identifier.

Can I make a link that opens directions?

Yes. https://maps.apple.com/?daddr=Destination opens directions from the current location; add saddr= for a fixed start and dirflg=w, d or r for walking, driving or transit.
