Can I make my iPhone open Google Maps links in Apple Maps automatically?

No. A google.com/maps link is a web link, and iOS won't redirect it to Apple Maps — not even with the default navigation setting offered in the EU and Japan. The closest thing is the GoToAppleMaps app (iOS 26 or later): share the link to it from any app and the place opens in Apple Maps.

What about native location pins, like the ones WhatsApp and Telegram send?

Those already work. A native location share isn't a Google link, so there is nothing to convert — tap it and open it in Apple Maps. Only a pasted google.com/maps or maps.app.goo.gl link needs converting.

Does this work with Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail?

Yes. A Google Maps link in a booking email is an ordinary google.com link, whichever mail app shows it. Copy it and convert it the same way.

What if some links do not convert?

Saved-list and My Maps links hold many places, so use the file converter or the GoToAppleMaps app for those. Links shared from Google Search (share.google) can't be read — share the place from Google Maps instead. A directions link converts to its final stop.
